Janis V. McLaughlin, President
Janis has served on the Board of Directors at Hilltop Home since 2017. As a physical therapist with a wide range of patient care experiences, Janis brings a clinical perspective to Board discussions.
Janis has been a Raleigh resident since 2006 and works for WakeMed Health & Hospitals where she manages Outpatient Rehab.
Janis holds a BS in Physical Therapy from Quinnipiac College and a MS in Healthcare Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ms. McLaughlin also serves on the Advisory Commission of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences and is an active member of Christ Church Raleigh.
Janis and her husband Kevin live in Raleigh with their children Erin and Will and a goofy yellow lab named Cooper.

Cheri Howell, Secretary
Cheri Howell has been a board member since 2021. She has spent her career working within the public mental health and IDD system with various non-profit service providers. Cheri brings to the board a knowledge of the funding streams and regulations of the publicly funded service system in NC.
Originally from Indiana, Cheri received her undergraduate degree from Purdue University before moving to NC and completing her MS in Rehabilitation Studies from East Carolina University. She lives in Raleigh with her husband, twins, and a dog-like cat.
Shannon Montague
Shannon Montague has been a board member since 2020. She has lives in Raleigh with her husband and 3 children. Shannon has received her undergraduate degree from Elon University in Elementary Education and her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction at University of North Carolina Central.
Shannon has worked in education the past 25 years as a teacher in the Wake County School System, preschools and as a preschool director. She is currently the Director of Children and Family Ministries at Edenton Street United Methodist Church.
Scott Strickland
Jessica Shook
Jessica was born in Pennsylvania but grew up in Raleigh, NC. Both a Steelers and an NC State fan, Jessica enjoys cheering on her teams with her husband Brian and their twin 5-year-old boys.
Jessica started her career in banking in 2007 and joined TowneBank in 2018. In her position as a Merchant Services Advisor for the Raleigh, Cary & Greenville region of NC, she works with members to provide credit card payment and processing solutions.
John Mikels
A Raleigh native, I went to Broughton High School and UNC-Chapel Hill for undergrad. Upon graduation, I moved back to Raleigh and got into the real estate industry, which I have thoroughly enjoyed for the past 10 years! I am a commercial real estate broker with JLL specializing in apartment sales.
I love traveling (mostly to Beaufort, NC), golfing, hunting, fishing, boating, and spending time with friends and family. I attend King’s Table Church in Raleigh and live with my yellow lab (and hunting partner) Beau!
Megan Lumley
Megan served on the Hilltop Home Board of Directors from 2013 - 2021 and has rejoined the Board in 2024.
She is the Vice President of Support Services at UNC REX Healthcare.
She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame and a Masters of Business Administration, as well as Masters of Health Administration from the University of Florida.
Megan enjoys spending time with her husband Sean, daughters Kiera and Riley, and adorable Goldendoodles Lucky and Waffles.
Cole Browne
Cole serves as a Risk Advisor and TowneBank LEAD Associate with a focus on Commercial Insurance with Towne Insurance.
He is a 2022 graduate of the University of South Carolina, focusing on business administration with a concentration in risk management & insurance.
Cole is an Eagle Scout and has served his communities through the Boys and Girls Club of America, Salvation Army, and many other community service organizations.
Brad Dilday
Raised in Raleigh since the age of 3, Brad graduated from Sanderson High School in 2003, and received his B.S from Clemson University in 2007. Upon graduation he came back to Raleigh and worked at Waste Industries, now GFL, in multiple capacities and overseeing several different locations from 2007-2020. In 2020 Brad changed career paths, obtained his Nursing Home Administrator License, and joined Springmoor Life Care Community. In October of 2022 he was promoted to Associate Director for Springmoor and serves in that role today.
Brad and his wife Hannah live in Raleigh and spend most of their free time enjoying their three little girls, Rosie, Tillman, & Wynn.
Larry Lakins
Larry has served as President of Hilltop Home, and he currently serves as the chair of the foundation.
As the Executive Vice President & Principal of Colliers, Larry focuses on Industrial Project Leasing throughout the Triangle, Triad, and the coastal area of eastern North Carolina. His experience in the commercial real estate industry spans well over Twenty-Five years and encompasses services including industrial landlord and tenant representation.
Larry has been acknowledged in his industry as a consistent top producer, including a two-year span as an Everest Award Winner. He is recognized for his leadership roles in the real estate community, as he has served as the President of the Triangle Commercial Association of REALTORS (TCAR).
Gina Minton
Gina has been on the foundation board for five years. She is originally from Wilson, North Carolina and has lived in Raleigh since 1986. Gina has three children, all three live in Raleigh and two grandchildren. Her hobbies include running, tennis, pickle ball and golf. She also coaches the tennis team at St. Mary’s High School and works at Fleet Feet.
Ward Minton
I have served on the board of the Hilltop Home foundation since 2023, and have spent my career working as a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley. After completing college at UNC-Chapel Hill and graduate business school at Wake Forest University, I moved to Washington, DC and joined a financial advisory team with Morgan Stanley. I am still working with that team but have since relocated back to my hometown of Raleigh, NC.
In my free time, I love spending time with my wife Miller, daughter Clark and dog George. I enjoy playing golf, tennis and pickleball year round and love snow skiing in the winter. During the other 9 months of the year I try to spend as much time as possible at the coast of North Carolina.
Elizabeth Riddick
Elizabeth lives in Raleigh with her husband Stephen and three young children. She is the National Vice President of Sales for Toll Brothers where she supports their selling efforts company-wide. She is an active member of her church and enjoys art, exercise and spending time with her family.
