Dr. Galla serves as the Medical Director of Hilltop Home and is the primary care pediatrician for all of our children. She is passionate about her role at the home and is honored to be a part of the comprehensive care team. Since all of our residents are wheelchair-bound and rely full-time on various medical devices, Dr. Galla travels to the children, rather than requiring the coordination of staff and vehicles to transport the kids to her. When she is not making medical rounds at Hilltop, she is seeing patients in her solo practice, Sweetbay Pediatrics. Prior to accepting the role of Medical Director, Dr. Galla served on the Board of Directors of Hilltop for two years. She first fell in love with caring for children with special needs as an Assistant Teacher at a school for orthopedically handicapped children in California during summers in college. Then while an undergraduate student at Duke University, she volunteered at Lenox Baker Children's Hospital as a tutor for children with chronic disease who missed school on account of prolonged hospitalizations. She attended Wake Forest University School of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at The Childrens Medical Center of Dallas. She spent her first 11 years of practice in California, working in primary care and as a hospitalist at Lucile Packard Childrens Hospital. Missing the Carolinas, she, along with her husband Matt and their three boys, happily relocated to NC in 2012. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, running, biking, gardening, playing piano and cheering on the Blue Devils.
